Welcome to the Airbrush Roadshow!
The Airbrush Roadshow features renowned Airbrush Artist and Instructor Thomas "Big Daddy" Banks,
and is sponsored by Ohio Technical College. The Airbrush Roadshow has been featured several times
in Airbruh Technique Magzine, and is a traveling Live Airbrush Show. The AB Roadshow goes into local Vocational
High Schools around the country and performs an instructional airbrush demonstration for high school students in automotive
technology fields. The purpose of the demonstration
is to expose thousands of high school students and administrators each year to the field of airbrush
and custom painting, as well as, to promote educational opportunities and products used in the
industry. This demonstration lasts the entire school day, and is very fast paced, intensive, and educational. A
typical demonstrtion will have 40-60 students that attend each demonstration....but there's always room for more! The
AB Roadshow stops at approximately 100 Vocational Schools per year across the Northeast and Midwest. The Demo is slotted for at least 4 hours, so it's a full day. What I want to accomplish
during the demo is to show your students they can learn to custom paint without being an "Artist". I always
envied someone with artistic ability, and never thought I could do this type of work. How wrong
I was!! With proper control, technique, and desire, everyone can enjoy Air Brushing!
An average
Paint Demo will include the following techniques: True Fire, Fire Logo,
Fire Skulls, Screaming Skull with cracks, pits, and piercings, Marbleized Textures, & Lightning. Emphasis
is on creating the illusion of depth with proper highlighting and shadowing. The best part is your
students will be able to employ these techniques immediately! No years of studying, apprenticeships, or trial
and error.
I use Auto Air Color for all paint demonstrations. This
is a non-toxic, water based graphics paint, so this event can be held right in your shop or classroom without the
worry of messy cleanup and noxious fumes! I want this to be a learning experiance, not only today, but for the future
as well. The host School is required to provide a hood to be painted (or similar surface). The hood needs to be
prepped with Black Base, and then scuffed. The hood remains with your school as a reference for the techniques covered,
so future students reap the benefits as well!
Availability is limited, so book your event
now! You can e-mail me via this website, or contact Ohio Technical College at 1-800-322-7000.
