Easyriders Magazine Rodeo Tour 2009, 1st Place Ride In Bike Show

Easyriders Magazine Rodeo Tour comes to town, and the Pinup Harley takes 1st place in it's world debut!  This  Electric Glide lit up the show with it's heat reactive paint.  People were amazed to see the pinup girls "take their clothes off" right before their eyes.  There was a constant crowd around this bike, with people running off to tell their friends.  The owner says "People are so amazed by the paint, they don't see any of the other details on the bike."  Modifications that include diamond cut heads, turn signals shaped like breasts, light kit, and woman shaped controls.  It was the paint, though, that won the day.  The phrase most people uttered all day?  "Wow, I've never seen or heard of anything like that!"  The people told the show "WHO'S THEIR DADDY", and voted for this one-of-a-kind bike.

Artist of the Month, December 2008, Airbrush Technique Magazine

This is one of the coolest things I've ever been nominated for.  Each month, airbrush artists from around the world nominate and vote for the AB artist they feel deserves this recognition.  While it's nothing "official or major", to be nominated and voted for by my peers, fellow custom painters, is something special to me.  To impress the crowd is one thing, to impress other airbrush artists is quite another!  This is one of the accomplishments that let me know how good my work is.  The recognition within the airbrush and custom paint community is one of the highest points of my career.  All recipients are inducted into the Airbrush Technique Hall of Fame found on AirbrushTechnique.com

1st and 3rd Place at the Niles Expo Center Bike Show 2008

DSC_9125.JPG

It's that time of year again!  The 2nd Annual Niles Expo Center Bike show kicked off the riding season this year.  I entered 2 bikes in the show, and they took 1st and 3rd Place......not a bad showing if I do say so myself.

The "Blue Fire" Yamah V-Star 1100 was built and owned by Justin Svihra, owner of Millenium Cycles.  Many modifications were added and fabricated on this stock frame, including stretching the tank, raking the front end, wheels, and fenders just to name a few.  The bike took over a year to build, piece by piece, and slowly transformed into what you see today.  The bike took about 2 weeks to paint, and was finished just in time for the show.  It impressed the judges and the crowd, and was awarded 1st place in it's catagory.

The "Porn Fire" Harley Davidson is a stock 2007 Harley Davidson Road King, AKA "Road Queen"  The Road Queen is owned by Angela Isabella, from Pittsburgh, PA.  When Angela bought the bike, she road it directly from the dealership to my shop for paint.  It was a stock black Road King.  In less than 72 hours, it was transformed into the "Road Queen" and driven away.  This one of a kind fire scheme was awarded 3rd place in it's category.

The Road Queen was also featured in AirBrush Technique Magazine, issue # 19 in a 3 page layout on realistic fire painting techniques.

1st Place, May-June 2008 Airbrush Competition, Airbrush Technique Magazine

Airbrush Techique Magazine holds custom paint / airbrush competitions on a bi-monthly basis.  These are people's choice awards, voted by airbrush artists and custom painters from around the world.  This competition was "Any Surface, Any Subject" so it was a wide open contest.  It included submissions from 4 countries, spanning the globe.  Entries included Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, Helmets, Canvas / Fine Art, and Textile / Fabric art.  This "rolling billboard" is for the powersports branch of Ohio Technical College.  The college wanted a four-season powersports theme that depicts all the different specialties that a technician can train and become certified in through the Power Sports Institute.

The bike took about 2 weeks to paint, and was finished earlier this year.  It impressed the judges and the crowd, and was once again, awarded 1st place in the metric cruiser category.

The Ice Bike is a 2008 Yamaha Raider owned by Cliff Vogan.  Only a few aftermarket mods have been made, including chrome controls, mirrors, luggage rack, and pipes.  The owner wanted to keep the original factory blue finish a dominant part of the paint scheme, but wanted something unique to separate it from the other Raiders that are out there.  The lines of the bike just scream for Tribal Flames.  I stepped those up to make them look like they were made out of Ice, and added a great illustration from the movie Chronicles of Narnia, the Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe.  Keeping with the Ice Theme, there's a painting of the Ice Witch in a sleigh, being pulled by polar bears on the back fender.  The ice bike, despite the lack of major modifications, was awarded 2nd place in the metric cruiser category.
